World Of project was basically a research project for students to see all the different parts of the medical field. After a little bit of background research students were to choose a career pathway and find out everything that there is to know about what it entails, such as how to get there and what it looks like when you do reach that point. The purpose of this was to gain a little more understanding on personal interests and what you could or couldn't see yourself doing in the future.
Individual Research Paper
After choosing the career we were going to research, Ms. Lutu provided us with a sheet of paper with all of the required information we needed to find out. Some of these things included, salary, how many years of college it takes, the skills that are suggested for the job, how many hours it usually provides, the type of environment it takes place in, etc. We were basically becoming experts on the career we choose and then we were writing a research paper on it. I choose an obstetrician. It was very interesting and exciting to find out all that it takes to get in to obstetrics. At the end of my project, I decided that an obstetrician still seemed like a great fit for what career I wanted to pursue. However, some people were not as lucky. Many in the class researched the job they chose and hated it. Either way, you learn a lot about what you like and it begins guiding you in a direction of choosing your future career pathway.

Schedule Guest Speakers
After we finished our research papers Ms. Lutu gave us time slots available for scheduling people of our selected career to come in and speak to the class. They spoke about what it's like to have that job, the pros and cons, the schooling, how they got into that career, etc. It was our responsibility though to fins someone to come in and speak. Mine was easy because my aunt works at OHSU as a medical social worker and she knows plenty of obstetricians. It was a great experiences to have all of these different people with such different styled careers come in. It gave us all exposure to the wide variety that the medical field has to offer. Personally, it caused me to think largely about my future and the reality of the steps I need to start taking now to get there. Though this is a short and pretty basic unit, it has very important information that may affect the rest of your life.
