Basic Curriculum
Beginning this unit, we had a PowerPoint teaching from Ms. Lutu on the background of the reproductive system. After that we each individually had to get the assigned vocab terms out of the textbook. There were diagrams that we had to fill out as well. All of this information is fair game on the exam at the end of the unit and it's up to each student to learn the material in whatever way works for them. This may include flashcards, creating a study guide, having family and friends quiz you, or just simply reading it over and over again. However, we did have a project that served as a very beneficial review tool which is described below.

Reproductive System Board Game
Ms. Lutu assigned us in groups of 3 or 4 to create a reproductive system board game. I know, sounds crazy. There wasn't much structure to it except use your creativity and include all of the material we had learned about that was going to be on the exam. My group created a shoots and ladders type game. The game pieces were sperm and the "finish line" was to get to the ovum. The chutes were penises with condoms on and the ladders were penises without condoms because the whole goal was to get the ovum fertilized, or pregnant. In order to move spaces along the board, you had to answer a question correctly which was usually a vocab term or labeling of a diagram. The day after the board games were due we spent a class period playing each others games as a review to study for the exam which was next class. It was a very fun and helpful project to learning the material.

Overall, I would say that It Is very important to work together and make sure that everyone is contributing to the project. It's not fair if one person does all the work and other people get credit for it. In the end, working on the project will benefit you because it serves as study time which will better your grade on the test that you have to do by yourself. Cramming for a test the night before never seems to work as well as people say it does. Study a little bit every day and you got it in the bag!
